Weaver to retire as Clorox chairman

OAKLAND, Calif.--C.R. Weaver, the chairman and chief executive of the Clorox Co., will retire on June 30, 1992--the end of the company's fiscal year.

In a statement Clorox said Weaver would continue to serve as its director. He was elected chairman and chief executive in 1986. Weaver, who joined the company in 1959, has been on the Clorox board since 1970.

Weaver will work with a special committee of the board of directors to evaluate chief executive candidates both from within and outside the company.
