Kettle Restaurants rolls homey radio ads

Nation's Restaurant News, Jan 11, 1993

HOUSTON -- Kettle Restaurants is using a down home approach complete with guitar twanging and voice-overs by Peg Phillips, the general store proprietor in the network hit "Northern Exposure," to promote the chain's homestyle cooking.

Phillips pushes a breakfast buffet, and cites the chain's appeal for lingering lunches and late night amenities in three, 60-second spots dubbed "Satisfaction," "Swig of Tea" and "After the Show." Created by Black, Gillock & Langberg, the spots broke in late December in Houston and Oklahoma in seven of the chain's 49 ads.
