Nation's Restaurant News, August 30, 1993

CHICAGO -- World Beat nightclub and restaurant has opened in the space formerly occupied by Ditka's Restaurant and City Lights Nightclub on Ontario Street.

Managing partner David Tripoli and a group of investors are drawing on some elements of their sister nightclub, Bossa Nova, including an international tapas menu and dancing to live and recorded music emphasizing mambo, salsa, jazz, rock and pop.

Tripoli was formerly a partner a vice president of Walter Payton's Entertainment One Group, which includes America's Bar, Walter Payton's Thirty Four's and Studebaker's.

World Beat is the second venue to take over the former Ditka's space, following the short-lived Allure.
