School district to be Subway franchisee

Nation's Restaurant News, Sept 30, 1996

SAN DIEGO -- The San Dieguito School District in Encinitas has become a franchisee of Subway. The franchise will be set up at the district's new La Costa Canyon High School.

The district will pay a royalty on sales to Subway. In return, Subway will provide the district with its full menu and offer training in food prep to district employees.

Brant Toogood, local director of business development for Subway, added that Subway products would be provided from Subway franchises to two other area school districts this year: San Diego City Schools and Grossmont Union High School District. The two districts have a combined enrollment of 70,000.
