Shoney's to debut steak concept in Nashville

Nation's Restaurant News, Oct 4, 1993

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Shoney's Inc. said BarbWire's Steak-house and Saloon, its long-awaited entry into the themed steak segment, is slated to open this month here.

BarbWire's decor will feature a front porch, rough-hewn planking and a peanut-shellstrewn floor - with an actual pickup truck suspended from the ceiling. The menu will include steaks, ribs, chicken and fish entrees.

Shoney's has tapped Kevin Henderson, currently the president of the company's Fifth Quarter Steakhouse chain, to oversee the fledgling concept as well. Shoney's expects two additional BarbWire's units to open in Illinois and Florida during the first and second quarters of 1994.
