MONTPELIER, Vt. - Middlebury College and the New England Culinary Institute have become partners in a program t train and certify Middlebury's foodservice staff.

Ted Mayer, foodservice director at Middlebury, said the agreement "offers NECI the chance to further hone its institutional cooking and teaching techniques, and it will help our staff round out their experience."

The basic program will train most staff in three areas: basics, kitchen management and current foodservice trends.

Six of Middlebury's 26-person foodservice staff have culinary degrees. Those employees will receive advanced, on-sit training in the areas of catering, plate presentation and AL I carte cooking.
