Domino's shakeup puts Monaghan back in prexy post

Nation's Restaurant News, Dec 16, 1991

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- Tom Monaghan has reshuffled the management of his Domino's Pizza delivery chain, appointing himself to replace David Black as president.

In other changes, Phil Bressler replaced Kevin Williams as vice president of operations; Gary McCausland succeeded Douglas Dawson as vice president of Domino's Pizza International; and John McDevitt replaced Timothy Carr as vice president of finance and administration.

Black and the other replaced executives are being considered for other positions within the company, a Domino's spokesman said.

The moves are part of Monaghan's efforts to resume a more active role in Domino's day-to-day operations.

Monaghan, who already held the posts of chairman and chief executive, reassumes a post he vacated two years ago when he put Domino's on the block and tapped Black as president. At Monaghan's recommendation, Black had built his own executive team with the expectation that the company would be sold.

Earlier this year Monaghan announced that the company was no longer for sale. Since that time he has tightened his control on the chain's day-to-day operations. The company was operating with two presidents, a company spokesman explained.
