Pizza Hut targets Little Caesars with takeout unit

Nation's Restaurant News, March 2, 1992

WICHITA, Kan. -- Pizza Hut officials said the chain is poised to unveil a new takeout, drive-thru prototype here as a vehicle for direct competition against carryout segment leader Little Caesars.

The test concept, whose name Pizza Hut officials would not divulge, will offer limited dine-in seating but not delivery. It is expected to open by April at a converted men's clothing store in a shopping center on East Central Avenue.

Sources at the PepsiCo division said proposed expansion of the new concept would combat Little Caesars in much the same way Pizza Hut's launch of a fleet of downsized delivery and carryout units targeted Domino's.
