Shooting Industry, Oct, 2001
Remington Arms Co. has become a major player on ESPN.com's new outdoor section: http://espn.com/outdoors. According to a pre-launch announcement, the Website will deliver the most in-depth, comprehensive coverage of hunting and fishing on the Internet, as well as tips from the experts, regular columns and analysis from show hosts and veteran outdoor magazine writers.
The Website debuts with Remington as the exclusive firearms and ammunition banner advertiser. The initial two-year partnership also provides for a Remington branded online interactive hunting game, and a special Remington mini-site within the ESPN outdoors site.
"Remington's Website, www.Remington.com, is already one of the most popular Websites in the hunting and shooting market," said Sam Grecco, Remington's vice president of eBusiness and e-Commerce. "ESPN is committed to building a first class outdoors site, and our early involvement with their new site will help us maintain our market leadership, and more importantly allow us to reach an even greater cross-section of the sporting market."
ESPN.com is the dominant sports Website, attracting nearly 6.5 million unique visitors per month. According to Remington, the introduction of a section devoted to outdoor enthusiasts provides Remington and other outdoor sponsors an additional venue to reach their core customers as well as a younger audience.
