One company capitalizing on brand loyalty is Ruger, who introduced a safe with the Ruger name this year. It is manufactured by Champion Safe.
Granite Security Products manufacturers an entire line of Winchester Safes.
Remington's brand-name safes range from the economical Express Gun Cabinet to high-end safes with triple-wall fire protection. In addition, the company offers a number of safe accessories, including an interior duplex outlet, an electric dehumidifier, four- and eight-gun shelf pistol racks, and a door-mounted pistol rack.
Browning's Conservation Series offers safes with Ducks Unlimited, National Wild Turkey Federation, and Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation logos. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of Conservation Series safes goes directly to the respective conservation organization.
Weatherby Signature safes range from heavy, full-size models to the discreet horizontal security chests.
Gun Locks -- Inexpensive, Fast Security
While most gun manufacturers include trigger locks with every firearm they ship, there's still a big market available for dealers.
Pro-Lok offers a number of trigger locks. The GL550 and GL650 models completely encase the trigger and trigger guard. Included with the locks is an 18-inch Accidental Discharge Cable. The cable can be used with the Pro-Lok trigger locks for added security.
Master Lock offers three trigger locks and three cable locks. The No. 106 Trigger Lock has a steel and zinc die-cast body and rubber pads to protect the trigger and block trigger movement. The No. 107 Cable Lock has a braided steel cable with 1/8-inch wide laminated steel 4-pin tumbler lock. Other products offer combination locks and various-length cables.
GSM Products' combination trigger lock blocks access to the trigger and the company's cable lock can be used on handguns, rifles and shotguns.
Remington has a three-pack of its keyed Trigger Block. The company also offers a short cable gunlock.
Mossberg's Cablelock comes in the company's distinctive yellow and blue colors. The company's Loc-Box is attached to a wall and encases a shotgun's action.
Smith & Wesson offers two keyed trigger locks and a 15-inch cable lock for semi-automatic pistols. The S&W Gun Cabinet Alarm Lock has an 8-foot cable for securing multiple firearms. It is motion sensitive with a 110 dB alarm, and the TattleTale feature indicates any tampering.
Saf-T-Hammer's security products are now offered through Smith & Wesson. These include the Saf-T-Trigger, a mechanical trigger block that is permanently installed in the trigger guard. The feature is now available on a number of Smith & Wesson guns. Also available is the Saf-T-Hammer Maximum Security Cable for all firearms.
Franzen Security Products also offers trigger and cable locks, both combination and key models.
The Life Jacket from the Mogul Co. encases not only the trigger and trigger guard, but also the gun's entire action. Models are available for handguns, rifles and shotguns.
Homak has a zinc keyed trigger lock with more than 50 possible key changes. It's lined with rubber gaskets to protect the firearm.
