Savage unveils AccuTrigger - Outdoor Marketplace

Shooting Industry, Dec, 2002 by Jim Gardner

Here's some exciting news for dealers and their customers. It's no secret that most current production sporting rifles are delivered with fairly unsatisfactory trigger actions. The weight-of-pull is normally two to three times what it should be for good shooting.

Even triggers that may be adjusted arrive from the factory with the adjustments sealed and accompanied by dire warnings about unauthorized tampering.

So how does a shooter get the trigger pull he wants short of a gunsmithing job? Enter Savage Arms.

How does this sound -- a rifle with a factory standard trigger, designed to be user adjustable over a range of 1.5 to 6 pounds. In addition, the new system is proven scientifically to offer a cleaner, more "crisp" release than competing trigger designs. Finally, the new trigger group is completely safe from accidental discharge if it's jarred or dropped.

Sound like some design engineer's pipe dream? Not for Savage. This describes the new AccuTrigger system from Savage Arms.

The new system is slated for incorporation into the popular Savage 110 series beginning in January. The adjustable trigger will be offered in varmint, law-enforcement, and heavy-barreled, long-range rifles.

The Savage 110 series is already a customer favorite because of its excellent accuracy and good value. The new AccuTrigger should enhance this reputation. It will be interesting to see how other manufacturers react to this Savage innovation.
