The ATF Retailer Inspection Process

Eventually, every gun dealer will be inspected by ATF. An ATF inspector and a former compliance manager of a major retailer will discuss the DOs and DON'Ts that will help dealers pass their next ATF inspection.

A panel of highly successful firearm retailers will share proven strategies that have helped them attract new customers, gain market share and enhance their profitability.

Firearms Thefts From FFLs

An ATF's stolen firearms manager and an industry loss prevention director will discuss emerging crime patterns and what dealers can do to reduce the chances of becoming a victim. These experts will provide information on vulnerabilities, what dealers can do to protect their stores from being a target, and will review the latest technologies in the area of retailer security.

Marketing Your Business In The 21st Century

Many retailers have seen dramatic increases in customer counts, as well as increased sales and profits, by advertising on cable TV. A panel of independent retailers will share their success stories.

Detecting And Avoiding Straw Purchases

3-4 p.m., Room N229

An ATF special agent will share some of the tactics being used to illegally acquire firearms from licensed FFLs. Learning to detect and avoid illegal straw purchases can help dealers recognize and deter this illegal type of transaction. Every attendee will receive a "Don't Lie for the Other Guy" video and a retailer kit.
