Potential nominations for the 2005 awards must reach the academy's office no later than Feb. 4. Companies may nominate only one product per category. All nominations must include the product's complete name and be accompanied by a photo. To be eligible for the 2005 awards, products must have been in production no earlier than January 2004 and prior to February 2005.

Nominations for the Manufacturer of the Year, Distributor of the Year, Citizenship Award, and the Shooting Industry Award (which goes to an individual), must include justification.

Following the February deadline, eligible nominations will be placed on a potential nominee ballot and mailed to academy's 400-plus members. The first round of voting will determine the top three final nominees in each category. A final ballot will be sent to academy members and their vote will determine who will receive the 2005 awards.

The award recipients will be kept secret and revealed during a special reception to be held in conjunction with the NRA Convention in Houston, in April.

Potential nominee submissions may be delivered to the FMG Publications SHOT Show booth 3913, e-mailed to: siae05@shootingindustry.com, or sent to the academy's office: Academy of Excellence, 12345 World Trade Dr., San Diego, CA 92128.

Academy Membership

The academy is also looking for additional members to help decide the 2005 awards. Membership is limited to two individuals per industry-related company. To apply, visit www.shootingindustry.com, select the academy link and follow it to the membership application page. Advertising or public relations agents and their employees are not eligible to join the academy.
