AllVertical ceases operation - Industry News

Shooting Industry, Feb, 2003

AllVertical, the Internet giant, has ceased operation. Shortly before Christmas, an email sent to the company's clients announced the closing "due to the difficult economic and business environment."

Repeated calls to the company were answered by a recording that related, "We regret to inform you that after years of service to the shooting, hunting and related industries, we are forced to close our doors. We thank you for having been part of the AllVertical family."

Formed in 1995 by Bert Bourgeois and Phil Reed, the company was best known for its flagship Internet site, www.shooters.com. Reed died last year after a prolonged battle with cancer.

Through the late '90s, AllVertical emerged as the foremost Internet company in the industry. It hosted hundreds of manufacturer and dealer Websites, and provided on-line shopping services for dealers nationwide.

In addition to shooters.com, AllVertical owned and operated Hunters.com, AllArcherycom, AllBlades.com, AllFishermen.com, AllFlyFishermen.com, and BlackpowderShooters.com.
