SIG reliability

Shooting Industry, March, 2005 by Steve Hudock

I'm writing to give Sigarms a pat on the back. I recently purchased a SIG P239 off a well-known Web site. Although it was advertised as being "NIB" (new in box), and although the gun itself appeared to be pristine, it came with only one magazine and no trigger lock. I called SIG customer service and the representative said that, yes, the gun should have come with a trigger lock and a spare magazine. He then said, "If you give me your address, I'll be glad to ship those items to you at no cost." I told him that I didn't expect SIG to do that and that this was an issue I should take up with the dealer (of course, on the Web site the dealer listed the gun as being sold "as is, no refunds"). Still, the SIG rep said he would be glad to ship the items, so I took him up on it.

I received them today, less than one week later, and I'm not even a big customer. This is my first SIG; I don't control purchasing for a big organization. I'm not even in law enforcement, just another Joe Customer.

I've been fortunate never to have had a bad experience with a gun manufacturer, but several of my friends have had problems big time (again, I won't name names). Clearly, SIG is not one of those problem companies. I guess the slogan they use for their guns also applies to their customer service: "To-Hell-and-Back Reliability."

Thank you, SIG. I hope a lot of people read this and give you their business.
