Weatherby helps pro bull riders

Shooting Industry, March, 2005

Weatherby's donation of two custom-built rifles helped highlight events at the 2004 Professional Bull Riders World Finals late last year in Las Vegas.

One of the rifles, a Mark V in .300 Weatherby Magnum, was used in a drawing, which generated $7,212 to support the Resistol Relief Fund for injured bull riders.

The custom-designed rifle features engraved 24-karat gold and silver selective plating, an exhibition-grade Claro walnut stock with ebony tip, cap and gold swivels and a Bushnell Elite scope donated by Bushnell.

The second rifle, a Weatherby Vanguard rifle, also in .300 Weatherby Magnum, was presented to Ednei Caminhas of Sao Paulo, Brazil, for winning the Mossy Oak Shoot Out Championship. The rifle sports a Mossy Oak Break-Up stock, gold-filled floorplate and barrel engraving, and a Bushnell Elite scope, courtesy of Bushnell.

"Many professional bull riders and those who follow the sport also share a love of hunting and the outdoors, so we are pleased that our rifles could be used in helping spotlight these important events at the PBR World Finals," said Brad Ruddell, Weatherby vice president.

"This is the fifth consecutive year Weatherby has donated a rifle for our drawing," said Rhea Constandine, Resistol Relief Fund general manager. "Their generosity has enabled us to add nearly $36,000 to our non-profit fund, which is used to provide medical and financial aid to athletes injured in bull-riding competition."
