Shooting Industry, May, 2004 by Lisa Parsons-Wraith
Kimber is best known for its 1911-style handguns and high-quality bolt-action rifles. However, the gun maker does offer shotguns. Actually, the company only has one shotgun at this time, the Kimber Augusta. The over-and-under shotgun has gained a following over the past few years and should prove popular with women shotgunners.
Currently available in 12 gauge, the Augusta features a Boss-type action with its corresponding shallow profile and slim lines. This gives the gun good looks and the practical advantages of being light with added strength. The guns are made in Brescia, Italy, where Beretta and Perazzi shotguns are manufactured. The long-established Brescia craftsmanship gives the Augusta the Old World fit, finish and quality that is characteristic of Italian-made firearms. The Augusta also benefits from modern manufacturing methods and materials, blending the best of the old and the new.

The Augusta is available in trap, skeet, sporting and field models. It comes fully outfitted with Pachmayr pads, Hi-Viz sights and interchangeable choke tubes. It has a positive tang safety with integral barrel selector button, automatic ejectors and options of 2 3/4- or 3-inch chambers. The trigger quickly adjusts for length of pull and the pistol grip has a wide checkering pattern. The tri-alloy steel barrels, with long forcing cones, are backbored to .736-inch.
Your customers can also special order versions with extra barrel sets, engraving, sideplates and upgraded wood. There also are fitting and stock and forend options available.
This is a high-quality shotgun any woman would be proud to own. Its slim lines mean it will come to the shoulder without effort and its elegant profile makes it a thing of beauty.
