SureFire selects marketing VP

Derek McDonald has been promoted to the position of vice president of marketing for SureFire LLC. McDonald, who was previously director of marketing for SureFire, will be responsible for all marketing, brand management, e-commerce and public-relations functions at the company.

"Our mission at SureFire has always been to build the absolute best, with no compromise, for those who go in harm's way," said John Matthews, president and CEO. "Derek has already proven his ability to develop and execute highly effective marketing strategies to support that position."

McDonald, a U.S. Navy veteran, started with SureFire in 1996 as a low-light tactics instructor and marketing manager for the SureFire Institute. He became marketing director in 2004.

McDonald has a bachelor's degree in business marketing from University of Phoenix and more than 15 years of sales and marketing experience.
