Keep it close to home - Letters to the Editor

Shooting Industry, July, 2002

The following is a response to a letter titled "Less Than Industrious," written by Rob Nelson and printed in the March, 2002 issue of Shooting Industry.

The answer is very simple. When Mr. Nelson had problems with the grips and holster he ordered, these were orders he made from a firearms newspaper, a mail order catalog, or even worse -- the Internet. At B&S Guns, we daily receive firearms, grips, holsters and many other items our customers order from somewhere else. And I would say that at least 60 percent or more of these consumers are unhappy with their purchases.

These customers order from mail order and Internet sites to save money and evade the state sales tax. And as a rule, they end up spending more money in the long run due to shipping, return shipping, and time lost. Or they end up with poor and misrepresented products.

Consumers would have fewer problems if they bought their accessories or had their firearms repaired at their local store. Most of the time you can buy the same, or even better, products at your local store. And if not, then let your local store order and fit your purchases.

The bottom line is this: If you don't support your local store, we can't stay in business. Spend your money at the stores owned by your neighbors. If you want people to be there to help you, try us first. Not as a last choice.
