FNH USA awarded FBI rifle contract

Shooting Industry, July, 2004

FNH USA has been awarded a contract to supply the FBI with the FN A4 A3 SPR (Special Police Rifle) bolt-action rifle in .308 caliber.

According to FNH USA, the long-range rifle was selected after an intensive evaluation, including a final endurance test of 10,000 rounds with two rifles. The FN A4 A3 SPR successfully completed the test without any parts breakage, misfires or malfunctions while exceeding the accuracy requirements of .50 MOA.

"This is the first time the FBI has looked for a specialized vendor to supply long-range precision rifles. FNH USA competed against every major manufacturer of precision rifles to win this contract and it validates our commitment to deliver real-world performance and value to our law enforcement and commercial market customers," said Rick DeMilt, FNH USA director of sales and marketing.

The FBI Model FN A4 A3 SPR has the same design as the entire SPR line with special modifications to meet FBI requirements. These include specialized FN OPS2 titanium mount and rings, a Leupold 3.5X10mm long-range tactical scope, 24-inch fluted barrel with steel floor plate (five-round capacity magazine) and an OD Green McMillan A3 adjustable tactical stock.
