Sigarms outfits New England police

Shooting Industry, July, 2004 by Russ Thurman

Sigarms has added another New England police department to its list of agencies carrying SIG Sauer pistols. The Rhode Island State Police has completed its transition to the P226 .357 SIG. According to Sigarms, the agency is the first in the country to adopt the new DAK trigger system, a double-action-only with a 6.5-pound trigger pull.

"The DAK trigger system provides all the safety and advantages of a double-action-only without any of the disadvantages, namely a long, hard trigger pull. Since November 2003, approximately 100,000 rounds have been fired through 200 duty pistols with no mechanical failures to report. This weapon has exceeded our expectations and has proven to be safe, reliable and accurate," said Sgt. James M. Manni, Rhode Island State Police range officer.

In addition to Rhode Island, Massachusetts, Connecticut and Vermont state police carry SIG Sauer pistols.
