A fist full of fun in support of Step Outside

Shooting Industry, August, 2004 by Russ Thurman

Next month's Shooting Industry Masters is about having fun while raising money for the National Shooting Sports Foundation's Step Outside program. The tournament at PMC's Desert Lake Country Club in Boulder City, Nev., is drawing wide support and praise from industry leaders.

"We're very pleased with the response to this year's event," said David Shaw, event director. "It's pretty impressive."

Many of the companies that took part in the first Shooting Industry Masters in 2003 are returning this year, including Team Ruger, headed by company President Steve Sanetti.

"It's a great way to fly the flag and show Ruger is out there as an industry leader," said Sanetti. "It's also a way to get away from the office, have a good time, do what we love, and to share war stories with friends in the industry."

The Desert Lake Country Club is a world-class shooting facility with a new 6,900-square-foot clubhouse.

"The venue is perhaps the best in the United States," said Bob Morrison, Taurus executive vice president and COO. "Last year's event was fantastic. Don't miss this year's masters."

Cyndi Dalena, an accomplished shooter, heads the Step Outside program.

"The program is important for all of us; it's key to the success of our sport and businesses," Dalena said. "The masters last year was like one big Step Outside event. It was a great day to get out and enjoy the sport we work so hard to continue. Don't miss this year's Shooting Industry Masters."

For those companies who have not committed to shooting in this year's event, there's still time to join the fun. Additionally, companies can donate products for the event's raffle, with all money going to Step Outside. To enter, donate raffle items or for more information, contact David Shaw or Robin Gray at (702) 294-0029 or (702) 294-0025.

Yes, FMG Publications will again field The Team That Never Misses. However, don't let this scare you away from entering. We promise our have-a-good-time rating will be a lot higher than our shooting score.
