The traditional summer holiday season

Shooting Industry, Sept, 2005

The traditional summer holiday season finds many companies busily marketing a wide variety of products to consumers with money to spend.

In preparation for the post Labor Day onslaught, John Lazzeroni at Lazzeroni Arms has teamed with Randy Brooks of Barnes Bullets and Robbie Barrkman of Robar to produce the LazerHead premium bullet. The LazerHead features a boat tail design with high ballistic coefficient and sectional density values for superior long-range accuracy.

Les Edelman, Dwight Van Brunt, Ryan Busse and the rest of the crew at Kimber are enjoying record sales. One of Kimber's more innovative products for hunters is the new Valier line of 20-gauge side-by-side shotguns. The Valier is lightweight, dependable and designed in the classic English tradition.

Browning continues to enjoy its leadership role in the shotgun field, as evidenced by the addition of 20- and 28-gauge versions to its Cynergy line. The Cynergy's exclusive low-profile Monolock hinge technology features a pivot on significantly more surface area to reduce wear and prolong the firearm's service. The new smaller gauges also have the Browning Index recoil pad, which delivers a 25-percent decrease in felt recoil.

Taurus International remains a leader in supplying the marketplace with stealth handguns. In the revolver category, the Instant Backup is an example of what's hot in under-cover weapons. The Instant Backup, a miniaturized version of the Taurus Model 85 revolver, comes in two styles, a five-round 9mm and an eight-round .17 HMR.

Heckler & Koch brings its reputation for innovation and quality in the firearms field to its new venture in the gun safe market. HK has introduced two full-size gun safes, the Model HK-23 and the Model HK-35. Each model features 12-gauge steel construction with a 1-inch double-walled, steel composite door and double layers of UL-listed gypsum lining the door, ceiling and floor.

The quartet of Juan Carlos Casas, John Schild, Joe Murray and Norv Hornberger has positioned Gamo Airguns and BSA Optics as spearheads in their respective markets. Both companies have strengthened their brand images by consistently producing reliable products at affordable prices for the dealer and consumer. BSA's Huntsman all-purpose scope is an example of how a clean, simple design can translate to strong retail sales.
