The M16 project will take place at Sabre Defence's Nashville, Tenn., facility and is expected to be completed by the end of December 2010.

Sabre officials say the manufacture of XR model rifles for the commercial market will not be affected by the military contract. New models of the XR15A3 are scheduled to be released in the coming months.
