Shooting Industry, March, 1996 by Robert M. Hausman

New chamberings for 1996 in the BOSS-equipped Model 70 Classic Sporter are .270 Wthby. Mag. and .300 Wthby. Mag. The new Model 9422 Trapper with its length of just 33 1/2 inches is ideal for younger shooters.

The new facility allows a substantial increase in production. While Winchester produced about a quarter million firearms a year in the early 1990s, management has reportedly set a goal to manufacture 500,000 guns annually by the year 2000.

Despite the rhetoric of the doomsayers regarding the supposed non-future of the shooting industry, the nearly $100 million investment of funds in the revitalization of Winchester/USRAC is proof-positive of the future longevity of the industry. Firearms often are thought of as symbolic of adventure. USRAC is certainly doing its part to ensure that the adventure continues.
