GYN cytology PT program available. The Midwest Institute for Medical Education (MIME) is accepting registrations for its 2005 national gynecologic cytology proficiency test (PT) program. Next year, all cytotechnologists and pathologists who examine gynecologic cytology specimens for CLIA-certified labs must participate in a PT program that is approved by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).

MIME will offer testing between Jan. 3 and Dec. 23, 2005, and will report enrollment and testing results to CMS. Registrations received before Jan. 15 qualify for a 10% discount; those received after April 1 will be assessed an additional 10% charge.
