CDC summer camp

Medical Laboratory Observer, March, 2007

CDC summer camp. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) offer Disease Detective summer camp for high school juniors and seniors in two sessions--June 11-15 and July 16-20--from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The camp is located on the CDC main campus in Atlanta. During each weeklong session, 27 students will learn how the CDC works to protect the nation's health through expert lectures and by participating in a mock press conference. Campers will also engage in hands-on activities to explore various methodologies employed to track diseases in populations, as well as practice basic lab procedures. At the close of camp, individual and group projects will be presented to CDC scientists. Applications must be postmarked no later than April 6, 2007.
