* AAFP-PT, the physician's proficiency testing program, is a CMS approved proficiency testing program with packages that are specifically designed for the physician's lab. Proficiency testing material provides an external check of the accuracy of your lab results meeting the CLIA '88 regulatory requirements. A cost effective Quality Assurance program is now available for Waived/PPM laboratories or Point of Care testing sites.

* AAFP-PT was the first proficiency testing provider to offer online ordering, reporting, evaluation, and continuing education for your convenience.

* AAFP-PT is approved as a provider of continuing education programs in the clinical laboratory sciences by the ASCLS P.A.C.E.[R] Program. AAFP-PT is also an approved provider for California clinical laboratory licensees under the P.A.C.E.[R] Program. Laboratory personnel can earn up to 12 Contact Hours per year by participating in our proficiency testing program and answering the continuing education questions provided by AAFP-PT with each event.

Abaxis announces the release of the Piccolo[R] Lipid, Comprehensive Metabolic, Renal and Hepatic panels for the portable Piccolo[R] Chemistry and Electrolyte Analyzer. The panels are self-contained discs using a few drops of whole blood, serum or plasma with less than two minutes of hands on time. With built-in iQC and calibration, results are provided in a "hard copy" report suitable for the patient's files in less than thirteen minutes or transferable to an LIS. The panels are individually packaged 10 discs to a box.
