Gas Technology Institute (GTI) held its annual meeting recently and several actions were taken. Elected as new board members for three-year terms were Arthur Corbin, President and CEO, Municipal Gas Authority of Georgia and James McManus II, Chairman, CEO and President, Energen Corp. Reelected for three-year terms were: Terry McCallister, President and COO, WGL Holdings, Inc. and Washington Gas Light, and Lee Stewart, Senior Vice President, Gas Operations, San Diego Gas & Electric and Southern California Gas Company.
Two executives will serve additional terms as officers: Mary Jane McCartney, Senior Vice President, Gas Operations, Consolidated Edison of New York, was elected chair of the GTI board. Randy. Barnard, Senior Vice President, Operations & Technical Services, Williams Gas Pipeline, was elected vice chair.

GTI announced the appointment of John "Jack" Lewnard as Vice President and Chief Technology Officer. He leads GTI's Office of Technology and Innovation, guiding development and implementation of long-term technical strategy and vision and quality control for R&D. He will provide overall direction to the R&D organization and identify new energy technologies, issues, and opportunities.
Lewnard came to GTI from GreenFuel Technologies, inc., a start-up company that photosynthetically converts CO-2 into renewable biofuels using algal bioreactor technology. There he served as Vice President, Process Development, and was also responsible for managing intellectual property and developing relationships with collaboration partners.
