Volvo CE is in the final development stages of a new 70-ton Volvo hydraulic excavator. The new excavator has been engineered in close cooperation with customers from key markets throughout the world. It has been designed for a number of different segments within the construction equipment industry including civil engineering, heavy construction, building and extraction. The primary design and engineering focus during the development of the new excavator was on high reliability and performance and lowest operating costs. The new excavator will be powered by a Tier 3 Volvo engine using Volvo's new Advanced Combustion Technology (V-ACT) system. Volvo Construction Equipment will begin full-scale production of the 70-ton excavator, the largest in the Volvo CE hydraulic excavator product range, later this year for delivery to markets.
