AmeriGroup acquires methodistcare's star HMO - Industry Scan - Brief Article

AMERIGROUP Texas, Inc., a subsidiary of AMERIGROUP Corporation, Virginia Beach, Virginia, has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire the MethodistCare's STAR (Medicaid) HMO product in Houston, Texas. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed. Subject to regulatory approval, the transaction will take effect January 1, 2002.

This deal marks AMERIGROUP's second business-line transaction in Houston this year. In August, AMERIGROUP Texas acquired the STAR line of business from Humana Inc.
