Former HFMA chairman receives national award

Healthcare Financial Management, Dec, 2005

William H. Nelson, president and CEO of Intermountain Health Care in Salt Lake City and a former chairman of HFMA, recently was named the first recipient of the National Healthcare Leadership Award. Presented by the National Center for Healthcare Leadership, the award recognizes Nelson's leadership role at IHC and in the industry, his skills at coalition and team building, and his commitment to providing quality, affordable health care.

Nelson was chairman of HFMA from 1995-1996. He serves on the boards of many national and regional community and healthcare organizations. "I am deeply honored by this recognition," Nelson said. "Our organization has always functioned in teams, and we are very committed to identifying future leaders and giving them the experiences they will need to lead the organization. This is integral to our process. Today, I am just a surrogate representing many, many teams at IHC."
