If it costs more, it's got to be better, right?

Healthcare Financial Management, Dec, 2006

IF IT COSTS MORE, IT'S GOT TO BE BETTER, RIGHT? According to a new report from the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, the average expense per outpatient drug purchase rose to $82.53 from 459.49 for a brand-name drug, and to 433.53 from $23.48 for a generic drug. Yet the percentage of Americans purchasing brand-name drugs rose to 53.4% in 2003 from 47.5% in 1999.
