Total net revenue for hospital units increased by 8.9 percent in 2002. according to the American Hospital Association's 2004 Hospital Statistics. Total expenses for hospital units rose by $32.9 billion, or 8.6 percent. Inpatient admissions increased by 2.1 percent, and the average length of stay remained at 5.1 for the second year in a row.
