Transaction certification assistance - HFMA News

Healthcare Financial Management, May, 2003

To comply with the administrative simplification provisions of HIPAA, all covered entities must test and certify that their transactions have the proper formats and data contents specified in the implementation guides. To help facilitate compliance, HFMA has released "Testing and Certification: What It Is and How It Can Mitigate Cash Flow Risks," a document that lists the seven levels of certification and suggests questions providers should ask when getting started with a testing and certification plan.

HFMA members can access the document at www.hfma.org/resource/focus areas/HIPAA@Work/articles/04_02_03.htm. Nonmembers can purchase a copy for $15 from HFMA's Member Service Center at (800)252-H FMA, ext. 2.
