Robert Craven Named To Hfma's Board Of Directors - Brief Article - Statistical Data Included

Robert A. Craven, FHFMA, has been elected by the Board of Directors to complete the term of Katherine E. DeGrande, FHFMA, CPA, an HFMA National Director who died this past March. Craven is administrator, finance department, Mayo clinic, Rochester, Minnesota. His term on the Board will expire May 31, 2002.

Craven received the HFMA Founders Medal of Honor Award in 1987. In addition, he earned the Follmer Bronze, Reeves Silver, and Muncie Gold awards. He earned FHFMA certification in 1972. Craven has served on the HFMA Board of Examiners and the HFMA Quality Standards, Capital, Professional Development, and Fellowship task forces. As a member of the Coordinating Committee of HFMA's Executive Graduate Program in Healthcare Finance, Craven helped develop curriculum recommendations for the executive graduate programs of several major universities. He was a member of the National Matrix in 1980-81.

At the chapter level, Craven served variously as president, treasurer, and member of the board of directors of the Minnesota Chapter. He holds a bachelor's degree in business administration from the University of Minnesota, and did graduate work at the University of Wisconsin.

"Bob has a long and distinguished record of service to HFMA at all levels," said Richard L. Clarke, FHFMA, HFMA president and CEO. "Most recently, he has shared his considerable expertise and insight by helping oversee HFMA's certification program. The National Board of Directors was very pleased that Bob agreed to continue to serve the Association, this time as a National Director."
