2003-04 Regional Executives begin terms - HFMA News - Healthcare Financial Management Association

Healthcare Financial Management, July, 2003

In June, 11 Regional Executives began their one-year terms. These individuals served as Regional Executives-elect since June 1, 2002 and were elected by Chapter Presidents-elect during the 2001 Fall Presidents Meetings and the 2002 Leadership Training Conference.

To be eligible for nomination to the Regional Executive Council, individuals must be advanced or national life HFMA members in good standing and have served as chapter officers for at least two years. Regional Executives may not be current chapter officers (excluding immediate past chapter presidents) and may not be from the same chapter as their region's outgoing leader.

Regional Executives serve as the primary volunteers and policy links between the regions' chapters and HFMA National. Their role involves policy making and compliance authority in relation to the Davis Chapter Management System. Regional Executives monitor the performance of chapters within the region, assist chapter leaders in serving members, convene and organize meetings of the regional leadership, foster effective communications between HFMA National and the chapters, and express the needs and interests of the region's chapter leaders on the Regional Executive Council to the National Board and staff.

HFMAs Regional Executive Council exists to ensure that the needs and interests of the HFMA chapter network are represented in the governance of the Association. The council also provides advice and assistance to HFMA National staff regarding chapter support and development programs and monitors the performance and administration of the chapters. The Regional Executive Council has authority related to those activities that affect chapters other than dues and other policies that are reserved by the HFMA National Board of Directors.

At HFMA's Annual National Institute in June, Regional Executives-elect for 2004-05 were announced. These individuals are Ted P. Anderson, FHFMA, CPA (Great Lakes Chapter); Annette N. Baker, FHFMA (Alabama Chapter); Katie Black, CHFP (Kentucky Chapter); Richard C. Chesnos, CPA (Western Pennsylvania Chapter); Ann B. Chiodini, CHFP (Rhode Island Chapter); Joseph F. Corfits, Jr., FEFMA (Iowa Chapter); Albert M. Farina, CPA (Metropolitan New York Chapter); Sarah C. Hull, FHFMA (Wisconsin Chapter); Julie L. Meek, FHFMA (Washington-Alaska Chapter); Paul E. Pedersen (Montana Chapter); and Steven P. Rose, FHFMA, CPA (Arkansas Chapter).
