Healthcare Financial Management, August, 2000

HFMA has awarded Robert B. Taylor, Jr., FHFMA, the Frederick C. Morgan Achievement Award, the Association's highest individual honor. Taylor, who is vice president of finance at Bethesda Memorial Hospital in Boynton Beach, Florida, is the 42nd recipient of this award, which honors career-long contributions to healthcare financial management and HFMA. The award was presented to him at HFMA's 2000 Annual National Institute in Orlando, Florida.

"Bob Taylor is distinguished at the local, state, and national levels as a respected and knowledgeable healthcare leader," said HFMA President and CEO Richard L. Clarke, FHFMA. "In both his personal life and professional career, Bob epitomizes the HFMA core values: service, excellence, teamwork, fiscal responsibility, innovation, and creativity. He is a role model of leadership, professional and personal accomplishment, and selfless dedication to helping others."

An active member of HFMA since 1967, Taylor served on the National Board of Directors (1995-97), the Board of Examiners (1992-95 and 1996-97, serving twice as chairman), the National Audit and Finance Committee (1995-97), and the National Matrix (1991 -92). He helped redesign the HFMA certification program and develop the Davis Chapter Management System. He also was a member of the Chapter Advancement Team (1991-93 and 1996-99) and the Graham L. Davis Task Force (1995-97).

Active in HFMA locally, Taylor served as president, member of the board of directors, and on many committees of the Florida Chapter. The Florida Chapter honored Taylor by presenting him its Outstanding Member Award in 1993 and by inducting him into the Chapter Founders' Club in 1995.

Taylor earned the FHFMA designation in 1976. He is a recipient of HFMA's Follmer Bronze (1982), Reeves Silver (1985), Muncie Gold (1988), and Founders Medal of Honor (1991) awards.
