David Timpe receives HFMA's Morgan Award - HFMA News

HFMA has named David A. Timpe, FHFMA, the 44th recipient of the 2001 Frederick C. Morgan Achievement Award. The award, which honors career-long contributions to healthcare financial management and HFMA, is the Association's highest individual honor. Timpe received the award at HFMA's 2002 Annual National Institute in Seattle, Washington.

Timpe is a partner with Eide Bailly LLP, Sioux Falls, South Dakota. He has spent the past 30 years in public accounting devoted entirely to the healthcare industry and is responsible for audits of numerous hospitals, long-term care facilities, home health agencies, and other not-for-profit organizations. Timpe has been actively involved with HFMA since 1976.

On the national level, Timpe has served on the National Matrix, the National Board of Directors, the Chapter Services Council, the Chapter Advancement Team, the Graham L. Davis Task Force (chair), and numerous other task forces, councils, and committees. He also has received HFMA's William G. Follmer Bronze, Robert H. Reeves Silver, Fredrick T. Muncie Gold, and Founders Medal of Honor awards.

HFMA President and CEO Richard L. Clarke, FHMA, says, "Dave Timpe leads by example, and he is an inspiration and a mentor to many."

Timpe has been an instrumental member of HFMA's South Dakota Chapter. He has served at the committee level, attaining the chapter's board member and officer positions. Timpe has received every award a chapter can bestow upon a member, including the South Dakota Chapter's Patrick H. Finn Achievement Award.

He also is a member of the South Dakota Association of Healthcare Organizations' Council on Finance and Reimbursement and has served as a financial coordinator for the South Dakota Hospital Association's Medicare Group Appeals.
