Industry: Email Alert RSS FeedMilk Sales Up Slightly In June

USDA reports packaged sales of total fluid milk products in marketing areas defined by Federal Milk Orders and California edged up .01% to 4.069 billion pounds in June, on the heels of 1.1% decline in May. Compared to June 2000, sales rose in eight regions, led by a 2.3% gain in the Arizona-Las Vegas region.

Sales declined in only three areas, including a 3.2% drop in the Mideast marketing area. In a month to month comparison, June's fluid milk sales were down 199 million pounds from May. The figures represent approximately 93% of total U.S. fluid milk sales, according to USDA. They include deliveries of fluid milk products in consumertype packages from milk processing plants that sell directly to consumers. These outlets include food and convenience stores, food store warehouse/distribution centers, other stores, schools and the food service industry. Fluid milk products include regular and flavored whole milk and fatreduced milk products.
