GREENBAY, Wis--Cheese giant Schreiber Foods Inc. has purchased family-owned Raskas Foods, of St. Louis which calls itself the largest private label cream cheese manufacturer in the United States.
Hesehel Raskas will remain with Raskas as president of what will become a Schreiber subsidiary.
"Schreiber and Raskas bring together complementary strengths with tremendous potential to deliver innovative dairy products," said Schrieber pres. and CEO, Larry P. Ferguson. "Culturally, the two businesses share vitally important core values, including dedication to superior quality and customer service standards."

The deal includes Raskas' headquarters, production facility and R&D facility in St. Louis, as well as plants in Stephenville, Texas, and Shippensburg, Pa. Schreiber, is a privately held company with 21 facilities worldwide, thirteen in the United States. With $1.5 billion in U.S. sales it ranks in the top 10 of Dairy Foods' Dairy 100.
