QUINCY, Mass. -- In a first at retail, Ahold's Stop & Shop division will begin testing Exxon Mobile's Speedpass payment and identity system in a handful of its stores starting this fall. Stop & Shop intends to incorporate its existing loyalty card program information into the Speedpass system.
Stop & Shop currently has 3 million loyalty cardholders. Spokeswoman Kelly O' Connor noted, "This will allow our customers to swipe their Speedpass and still receive all the benefits of their loyalty card."
