Hallmark.com expects online spending to rise

Drug Store News, Sept 10, 2001

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Hallmark.com reported strong mid-year sales growth with revenue tripling last year's figures. In June, Media Metrix reported 46 percent traffic growth for Hallmark.com compared with an overall visitor decline of 9 percent for competing sites that rely heavily on e-card traffic.

Hallmark.com is now working with its subsidiary, The Gift Certificate Center (www.giftcert.com) to offer online gift certificates that can be attached to any of Hallmark.com's e-cards or mailed with a Hallmark paper card.

As the holiday season approaches, Hallmark.com expects online consumer spending levels to continue to rise in relation to overall spending. During the next 12 months, Hallmark.com projects more than 75 percent of the site's revenue will come from the sale of flowers, gifts, ornaments and personalized greeting card products.
