Cutivate (fluticasone propionate) Cream, 0.05%, from Glaxo Dermatology, a division of Glaxo Wellcome Inc., has been cleared for marketing by the Food and Drug Administration for treatment of atopic dermatitis in infants three months of age or older. Cutivate Cream is the first and only topical corticosteroid approved for use in infants three months of age and older. Topical corticosteroids should be applied with caution in this patient population, Glaxo noted.

The recommended dosage and administration for Cutivate Cream in pediatric patients three months of age and older is application of a thin film once or twice daily to the affected skin areas. Cutivate Cream should not be used in the diaper area unless directed by a physician.
