The FDA approved a generic version of Pfizer's Zithromax, an antibiotic approved for the treatment of ear infections in children, for three companies last month: Teva, Sandoz and Pliva. Pfizer recorded sales of $309 million for Zithromax for third quarter 2005, according to company reports.
