DETROIT - Wayne State University broke ground last month on the new site for its college of pharmacy. Leading the financial donations for the - building of the facility was Arbor Drugs founder Eugene Applebaum, a 1960 graduate of the school. Applebaum donated $5 million to the school, the university's largest single donation.

"The College of Pharmacy and Allied Health Professions for decades has made a profound and positive impact on life in Southeastern Michigan," Applebaum stated. "The plans, the people and the partnerships ... are in place. This building project is the key in the ignition."

The 206,000-square-foot facility will open for the fall 2001 semester.
