Nails as fashion accessories

Drug Store News, Feb 17, 2003

As fashion forecasters will tell you, accessories are back in a big way. Chalk it up to the economy or lack of "must-have" fashion in the market. But whatever the reason, women are gravitating toward the little extras to update their looks. Artificial nail manufacturers, hip to the resurgence, are marketing their wares as the affordable accessory of choice for a clean, polished look. Both Kiss Products and Pacific World's Nailene brand have jazzed up their nail designs to bring more fun--not to mention more users--to the artificial nail category.

Mirroring the embellished looks on the runway for spring 2003, Nailene has updated its artificial nails to appeal to everyone from the blushing bride to the punk rocker. In addition to the classic French look, the spring collection includes metallic silver tips and embellishments, such as trendy rhinestones and dragonflies. The brand also has added shorter nail lengths to the line to cater to a younger, prom-going crowd. Nailene Nail Art, ministickers for fingers and toes, is'perhaps the most innovative addition to the category this spring. The sparkling addons allow women to embellish both natural and artificial nails for less than $2.
