CVS Caremark

Drug Store News, Feb 9, 2009 by Antoinette Alexander

CVS Caremark is targeting cash-strapped beauty shoppers by promoting store brands, including a store-brand anti-age cream that's as much as 30% cheaper than L'Oreal's Advanced Revitalift; noted a recent Bloomberg report. Several other pharmacy retailers are mirroring the move.

Store brands account for 1-in-5 items sold in U.S. food, drug and mass outlets, and represent more than $65 billion of current business at retail, according to the Private Label Manufacturers Association.
