Morton Grove to market Amantadine Hydrochloride Syrup

The Food and Drug Administration has granted Morton Grove Pharmaceuticals approval to market Amantadine Hydrochloride Syrup, USP 50 mg/5 mL, for the prophylaxis and treatment of infection caused by strains of influenza A virus. Amantadine Hydrochloride is also indicated for the treatment of Parkinsonism and drug-induced extrapyramidal reactions.

According to the FDA approval letter, the product was found to be therapeutically bioequivalent to Symmetrel Syrup, 50 mg/5 mL, marketed by DuPont Merck Pharmaceutical Co.
