Land O'Lakes to consolidate, cut jobs

Drug Store News, March 4, 2002

ARDEN HILLS, Minn. -- Land O'Lakes is consolidating its foodservice and retail spreads manufacturing at its Kent, Ohio, facility, resulting in the closure of its Faribault, Minn., spreads plant. The move will result in the loss of 90 jobs. The consolidation will take place in phases and will be completed by the end of the summer.

Among the products produced at Faribault are margarine, spreads, flavored butter, spray-dried dairy products and malted milk products. The production capacity of the Kent plant, built in 1982, is about three times that of the Faribault facility, which was built in 1948, the company stated.
